Hip-Hop Summit Denver brings the city's hip-hop community together for a full-day celebration of music, movement, graffiti art, vendors, live creativity, and cultural connection.

The Summit centers MCing, DJing, breaking, graffiti art, and knowledge, with room for the broader culture around hip-hop, including fashion, photography, beatmaking, barbering, entrepreneurship, and community storytelling.

Hip-hop was built by communities who turned limited resources into a global art form. Five elements. One culture. A way for people to be seen, heard, and counted.

The Summit exists to preserve and elevate that culture in Denver: paying artists fairly, putting graffiti writers and breakers on the same stage as MCs and DJs, and keeping the door open and free for everyone. Knowledge is the fifth element, and passing it on is the whole point.

Common Questions

Is this event family-friendly or all-ages?

Yes, the Summit welcomes all generations. However, please note that hip-hop is an uncensored art form. Performance lyrics and live art will not be edited or sanitized; parent and guardian discretion is advised.

Is the event actually free? Do I really need to RSVP?

Yes, admission is 100% free! However, The Black Box has a strict legal capacity limit. A free RSVP secures your spot in line, but entry is granted on a first-come, first-served basis. Arrive early to guarantee entry.

Who is organizing this event? Is it a commercial project?

This is a fully grassroots, community-first initiative produced by Colorado Street Art Company, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Every dollar raised via donations or corporate sponsorships goes directly toward paying our artists and keeping this cultural gathering free for Denver.

Where is the event located?

Hip-Hop Summit Denver 2026 will be held at The Black Box · 314 E. 13th Ave · Denver, CO 80203. The event is free to attend and runs 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM. All ages welcome.

Can I perform or submit as an artist?

Yes. We accept submissions from MCs, DJs, breakers, dancers, and live painters. Apply on our Perform page. Submission does not guarantee selection; all artists are reviewed by the programming team.

Can I set up a vendor booth?

Yes. Apply on our Vendors page. Tiers range from free community/nonprofit tables to $35 artist tables, $50 general vendors, $75 food vendors, and $100 outdoor tents. Spaces are limited and reviewed in batches.

What are the elements of hip-hop?

Hip-hop is often described through four foundational artistic elements, with Knowledge recognized as the fifth element that connects the culture to its history, purpose, and community roots. Hip-Hop Summit Denver centers MCing, DJing, Breaking, Graffiti Art, and Knowledge, while also making room for the broader culture around hip-hop, including fashion, photography, beatmaking, barbering, entrepreneurship, education, and community storytelling.

Is the music censored?

No. Hip-Hop Summit Denver is an authentic hip-hop event and the music reflects that. The event is all-ages and family-welcoming, but performances are not censored. Parents and guardians should use their own discretion when bringing young children.

Can minors attend without a parent or guardian?

Final venue policies will be posted as event details are confirmed. Parents and guardians should use their own discretion based on age, maturity, and comfort with live hip-hop programming. The event is all-ages and family-welcoming.

Is there alcohol at the event?

Hip-Hop Summit Denver is an all-ages event. Alcohol service, if available, is for guests 21 and older with valid ID. The event is family-welcoming at all times.

Is the event loud?

Yes. This is a live music and performance event. Sound levels will be high during DJ sets and performances. Ear protection is recommended for young children or sound-sensitive guests. See our Accessibility page for more on sound levels, accommodations, and rest areas.

Can I submit artwork for the event?

Public artwork submissions are not currently open. Visual art programming for the Summit is curated and may be invitation-based due to limited venue space, display capacity, and production needs. Artists who are invited or directly coordinated with by the organizing team will receive a private artwork information link.

Where is The Black Box located, and where should I park?

The Black Box is located at 314 E. 13th Ave, Denver, CO 80203. Street parking is available throughout the Capitol Hill neighborhood. We highly encourage using rideshares or taking the RTD Light Rail to the Theatre District/Convention Center or Civic Center stations to keep travel easy. See Plan Your Visit for details.

Will there be photos and video at the event?

Yes. Hip-Hop Summit Denver is a photographed and filmed event. Photography and video recording take place throughout the day for event coverage, social media, and archive purposes. By attending, you acknowledge that you may appear in event documentation. Artists and performers retain copyright in their own work.
